Three Day Weekend to Cottonwood

The calendar was clear, the weather was good, lets take a trip! We left Thursday morning and headed for St Gertrude's Monestery in  Cottonwood, Idaho. We'd reserved a room at their B&B for two nights. We had been there several times before, enjoying visiting with the sisters, just hanging out in a relaxing place.

On the way up, we explored the Cascade Reservoir State Park, which we had never really done before. Its large and very pretty!

We arrived at the Inn mid-afternoon and learned from the Inn Keeper that we would not, in fact, be able to go to the monestery to see the sisters - turns out they're still following Covid protocols and may never see the public again! Darn! Our room faces East so we were to enjoy some awesome sunrises!

For dinner we went to the Keuterville Pub and Grill. A great meal of pot roast while we listened to the chatter among the locals at the bar.

On Friday we visited the musuem next door. Last time we were here it was under renovation. They did a great job! Then we went exploring. We headed south to find a place called Cooper's Ferry on the Salmon River. This is really wild country! We took Graves Creek road down into the canyon, found our goal, and found a quiet spot to set up our chairs for lunch by the river. There is NOBODY down here!

Back in town for dinner, we went to the Country Haus Restaurant in Cottonwood, which was quite good!

We left for home Saturday morning, taking the long way from New Meadows.
